Saskatoon Prayer Breakfast

The purpose of the Saskatoon Prayer Breakfast is for the faith community of Saskatoon and area to come together and pray for and encourage our elected officials from our city, surrounding communities, province and country. The 2019 Prayer Breakfast will be held Saturday, April 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Prairieland Park, 503 Ruth Street West, Saskatoon. (Doors open at 7:30 a.m.) Guest speaker is Bill Adsit. For his first 5 years of life Bill was exposed to a violent father and two alcoholic parents. From age 5 to 15 he was in a residential school in the Yukon year round. He went on to serve 38 years in the Canadian military and several different departments within the Government of Canada before assuming a leadership role with his own band, the Tahltan First Nation. Today, Bill is a Business Development Officer for Arrow Transport Systems and a board member for BC Hydro. The rhythm of the Contemplative Mass is a gentle, steady flow, marked by 20 minutes of silence after Communion. It is designated to allow space for reflection and recognition of the intimate presence of Christ who comes to us through scripture and the Eucharist. Silence within this form of worship can feel uncomfortable or awkward, especially when experienced for the first time. We encourage you to relax and rest in the abiding presence of God.

CFS - Catholic Family Services - Marriage Preparation Weekend Sessions Catholic Family Services (CFS) in Saskatoon offers weekend workshops in marriage preparation designed to help couples learn to better communicate feelings and ideas on relationship issues. One Day Retreat for Men

* Answer the Call - A One-Day Retreat for Men, will be held at St. Peter's Parish, Unity, SK., on Saturday, April 6.  The day will begin at 8:30 am with lunch and supper provided, and will conclude after supper in time for the regular evening parish Mass. We have three presenters joining us for the day: Gerald Montpetit, John Connelly, and Mark Mallett. They will be sharing stories and testimonies with us and encouraging us to answer the call to become faithful husbands, fathers, and men in our faith. Although certainly Catholic in nature, other Christian men are also invited and welcome to join us. As we will be serving meals, if you could RSVP to the parish office to confirm your attendance, that would be greatly appreciated. Impact of Physician-Assisted Suicide/Euthanasia Conference

* Cornerstone Church in Saskatoon is hosting a conference about the impact of Physician-Assisted Suicide/ Euthanasia, and to raise awareness about all the ramifications of assisted death, as well as providing information about the alternatives. The conference will be held 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at Cornerstone Church, 315 Lenore Drive, and is open to e everyone. Cost is $5. Speakers include Rev. Len Bachiu, minister to seniors at Cornerstone Church; Dr. Sheila Harding, MD, physician and professor in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and president of the Christian Medical and Dental Society of Canada; and Dr. Margaret Cottle, MD, a palliative care physician in Vancouver who teaches at the UBC Faculty of Medicine.

Join L'Arche Saskatoon in the Lighthouse Supported Living's March a Mile on March 30 in Saskatoon. People living with disabilities are twice as likely to live below the poverty line as those without disabilities. Let's raise awareness in our own community and support with those who are without stable housing! Together we can help to end chronic homelessness. How to participate: come and join (or cheer) the L’Arche Saskatoon team, “The Ark-asaurus Rex”, March 30 beginning at 11 a.m. for the 3-km, wheelchair accessible, walking route, ending with a free chili lunch for participants.
