A Message from our Pastor A message from our Pastoral Team

We are a Roman Catholic Community desiring to be God's light in the world by our witness, love and worship.

Sacraments

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available every Saturday morning between 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. or can also be celebrated by making an appointment with our parish priest.

Lighting the baptismal candle from the Easter candle. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated during the Sunday Eucharist throughout the year, with the exception of Lent and the summer months. Generally, couples who seek baptism for their children are invited to three Baptismal Formation sessions prior to the date of the baptism. These gatherings are opportunities for parents to reflect on and renew their own faith commitment, to strengthen the bond with the faith community, and to grow in understanding of the sacrament of baptism.

The Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist are celebrated together with children who are in Grade Two, as is now customary in our diocese. Preparation for these sacraments occurs in the parish (not in the schools) with six formation sessions which brings together both parents and children. Our bishop comes to the parish to confirm the children and to give them First Eucharist in the same celebration.

The Sacrament of Marriage is planned at least six months in advance of the wedding date. Consultation with our parish priest is essential in determining the form, time and nature of appropriate marriage preparation.

The Sacrament of Anointing is always available upon request but is celebrated at least once a year in a parish celebration of the Eucharist. Even though February 11 is designated as World Day of the Sick and so would make an appopriate time for this sacrament to be celebrated in the parish, due to winter weather our parish has moved this communal celebration to the month of May. Please consult the parish bulletin for the exact date.
