WANTED: YOUTH MINISTRY COORDINATOR
Our parish is currently receiving applications for a Youth Ministry Coordinator
Objective: To draw young people into responsible participation in the life, mission and work of our parish community, inviting them to grow in their Christian discipleship in the world.

Responsibilities:
• To facilitate age-appropriate faith formation opportunities through visits, activities and prayer for all the youth in our parish, with special focus on high school age youth.
• To build relationships with schools, teachers and parents, with all who play formative roles in the lives of young people.
• To recruit, train and coordinate volunteers to help carry out youth ministry programming for ages 9-11, 12-13, 14-18.
• To work in collaboration with both the parish pastoral team and with the diocesan Youth Ministry Office.
• To integrate the youth of our parish into all aspects of parish life according to the Comprehensive Youth Ministry Model.
• To embrace and promote the Diocesan Vision for ministry, and work together with the parish pastoral team to create and nurture an inclusive and positive community for Catholic youth.
• To work collaboratively and consultatively with youth programs/groups in the other churches in Humboldt and area.
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. education, theology, religious studies) with a solid grounding in Catholic theology, Church teaching and spirituality;
• Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies recognized by WCACYM or a willingness to obtain this certificate;
• An equivalent combination of education/formation and/or related experience may be considered in lieu of completed degrees/certificates.
• Must demonstrate an ability to develop and maintain positive and appropriate relationships with youth and young adults;
• Must have an appreciation for ecumenical relationships and be willing to nurture rapport with youth programs/groups in other churches of Humboldt and area;
• Must possess good relational skills, show initiative and display leadership gifts.
Work Conditions:
• Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Must own a personal vehicle and valid driver’s licence
• Must be able to respond to pastoral needs among youth, at times having to shift priorities in order to apply the Spirit of the Gospel to particular situations.
